He has practiced and taught law in Massachusetts for many years. He currently resides in Sicily most of the year where he writes and practices law on matters concerning Italy and Sicily. He is considered an expert on the bar examination and has lectured for decades on the subject. He has authored three popular books on Sicily and a fourth scheduled to be published in late 2014. He is the co-creator and co-executive producer of a television series on Sicily "You, Me and Sicily" which highlights the “points of light” in the island paradise. Season One was filmed in June of 2014, and Season 2 will be broadcast the end of 2015 and early 2015.
He was a founding trustee of the Massachusetts School of Law in Andover, Massachusetts, as well as the founder of MTS Bar Review, a firm which prepared hundreds of law school graduates to pass the Massachusetts Bar Examination. He was a featured lecturer for years with Bar/Bri Bar Review and currently teaches bar review at Northeastern University School of Law and has taught at other prominent Boston law schools. All told, he has trained over 8,000 practicing attorneys to pass the bar examination.
Mr. Zappala has a B.A. from the University of New England, and a J.D. from the Massachusetts School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts and has been a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Boston Bar Association, Essex County Bar Association and Greater Lawrence Bar Association.
He has three children and four grandchildren. He considers this to be his single greatest accomplishment in life.
